Year end round up 2013.

It feels like it was a huge year around here. From the Toronto premiere of the Craigslist Cantata, the docudrama of the Rio Tinto Alcan award winning Extraction, grand opera Tosca at Pacific Opera Victoria, an adaptation of Chekhov’s Three Sisters, then some time as a playwright retreating at the Stratford Festival, and ending the year with the East Van Panto. Not to mention development on a few things that will see the light soon. Now if I could get my playwright side more in gear…

Some of my favourites theatrical experiences as an audience member this year:
Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime in London
Romeo and Juliet in Stratford
Spiegeltents in Edinburgh and London
Ronnie Burkett’s The Daisy Theatre at the Cultch

Some incredible journeys: Belgium for my grandfather’s crash site and memorial, Berlin, Stalag Luft III in Poland, London, the Netherlands, Halifax, Joe Creek Artists’ Retreat on the Sunshine Coast.

And of course, meals I remember: the Willows Inn on Lummi Island, a great steak at Brasserie L’Ecole in Victoria, and some fancy place that James found in Groningen.
